The Tale of Ice
The Tale of Ice
Welcome to the Ice Fjord Centre — we will present the exhibition, which is the hallmark of the house: “The Tale of the Ice”.
Sermeq Kujalleq is one of the world's largest producers of icebergs. The Ilulissat Icefjord, which is shaped by both the sea and the landscape, has provided the basis for life over thousands of years. The good living conditions of many animals have attracted people to the area.
People from the Saqqaq, Dorset and Thule cultures have lived at Sermermiut without missing anything, and today we still live off the resources of the fjord.
We tell the story of how life originated here: how the first humans lived, why there are so many animals and how ice is formed.
