A hike back in time to experience Sermermiut's fine history and beautiful nature.
Scenic Exploration - We will be walking along a wooden path from Kangiata Illorsuata the Icefiord center to Nakkaavik, a 2.6 km trail. Flanked by the breathtaking beauty of the icefjord, you'll be immersed in the rich cultural heritage and traditions passed down through generations.

Historical Insights - Explore Sermermiut, once home to Saqqaq-, Dorset- and Thule people - who inhabited the area from 4500 BC to the 1850s. Your guide will walk you through the historical periods of the area.  They'll unravel the stories of these early settlers, painting a vivid picture of their lives and the legacy they've left behind.

Cultural Immersion - Engage with a local guide sharing stories, history and traditions - and myths. Delve into the different periods of Arctic cultures that thrived our country. Our local guides are not just knowledgeable about the historical periods of Sermermiut but also deeply connected to the traditions that persist today.

    • Entry or admission fee

    Starting in June 2025, Avannaata Municipality will introduce a fee of 10 euros per visitor for access to the land area between Ilulissat town and the Icefjord, including the trail system with the yellow, red, and blue routes.

    This one-time fee covers the visitor's entire stay in Ilulissat and helps fund the maintenance of trails, boardwalks, and daily supervision of the area.
