Full-Day Arctic Adventure: Snowmobile & Dogsledding to the Glacier
Join us for the ultimate Arctic day experience. A perfect blend of adventure, culture, and breathtaking nature. Your day begins in Ilulissat, where we pick you up at your hotel at **08:30 am** and take you deep into the UNESCO-protected Icefjord area for a once-in-a-lifetime journey.
Snowmobile Ride Into the Wilderness
The tour starts with an exhilarating **25 km snowmobile ride** through untouched winter landscapes. Whether you choose to drive your own snowmobile or enjoy the ride as a passenger, your guide will accompany you all the way. The journey takes about an hour and brings you to the sea ice where local fishermen also begin their day.
Traditional Dogsledding on the Sea ice
From here, you step into Greenlandic tradition. Your mushers prepare the dogsleds, and soon you’re gliding in silence across the sea ice - pulled by strong, loyal Greenlandic sled dogs.
This 2,5 - 3 hr - dogsled ride takes you all the way to the majestic front of the glacier. Here, surrounded by the raw beauty of ice and mountain, we pause to enjoy a warm cup of coffee while taking in the peaceful, powerful atmosphere of this remote Arctic landscape.
Lunch at Ilulissat Icefiord Lodge
We return by dogsled to Ilulissat Icefiord Lodge, where a homemade lunch awaits. Enjoy a light lunch in the calm of the lodge, with stunning views overlooking the glacier.
A highlight of the meal is halibut caught directly in Ilulissat Icefjord. something that is deeply important to us. The Icefjord plunges to depths of 300–1,000 meters, creating cold, nutrient-rich waters that give the Greenlandic halibut its exceptional taste and quality. Fishing has been at the heart of life in Ilulissat for centuries; long before modern boats and equipment, local hunters relied on dogsleds to transport their catch across the sea ice. This connection to the land, the sea, and the dogs remains a central part of the community’s identity today. Throughout the tour, we provide helmets for your safety on the snowmobile ride. Many guests describe this moment at the lodge as one of pure peace warm, welcoming, and genuinely authentic.
Return to Ilulissat
After lunch, we take the snowmobiles back the same way, returning to Ilulissat before 3:30 pm. Along the way, you may even meet the sled dog puppies that many visitors fall in love with.
