Take a journey to Nodafar, an abandoned settlement where over 1000 people once lived but is now known as a ghost town, just south of Nuuk.

Departing from the Tide Water Steps, a short distance from the Nuuk city centre, jump into our comfortable Targa boats, with our knowledgeable local guides who will take you to explore Nodafar, an abandoned village frozen in time! 

Nordafar is a unique village as this community was inhabited by Faroese fisherman, who came here to fish for the Atlantic Cod, mixing both Greenlandic and Faoese influences through the village.

Nordafar can be described as “frozen in time” due to how quickly the inhabitants left, with every day objects remaining in place for decades, with only nature and the elements to effect them. Explore this abandoned village with your local Greenlandic guide who will provide a deeper insight to this unique and atmospheric village.

During your journey, you can either enjoy the scenery from the warm cabin or enjoy the purest air in the world by relaxing on the outside deck! During your journey, you may catch sights of whales, icebergs, eagles, seals and reindeer if you are lucky!

About out boats

Our comfortable Targa boats offer a warm luxurious way to travel on the Greenlandic seas. With a maximum of 8 (Targa 32) or 12 (Targa 37) people per boat, you will have an intimate, small-group experience with your local guide.

What to know in advance:

Minimum participants: For our tours to go ahead we need a minimum of 4 people for our Targa 32 and 6 people for our Targa 37. We will inform you in advance if there are not enough people for the tour to go ahead.

Languages: English, Danish and Greenlandic

Toilet Facilities: There is a toilet aboard

Recommended Clothing: The weather can change quickly so please remember to bring warm clothing. The sun in Greenland can be intense so be sure to pack sunscreen and sunglasses.

If you wish to brave the icy waters, you can try swimming from the boat, for this please let us know and bring your own swimming gear.
